I was one of the fortunate invitees from a rural based school but run by a giant corporate body. I was asked just to observe the teachers and give my feedback.

British Navy's last journey.

One of the most visited place in India is the Gateway of India in Mumbai. I have visited it with my family some years ago. Apart from the magnificent monument and the sprawling Arabian sea behind it, I was captivated by the thousands of pigeons that are fed by every visitor.

The Gateway of India was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay.The Gateway is traditionally the first thing visitors arriving by boat would see of Mumbai.

The whole harbour front was realigned in order to come in line with a planned esplanade which would sweep down to the centre of the town.




The Gateway is built from yellow basalt and reinforced concrete. While Indo-Saracenic in architectural style, elements are derived from the Muslim architectural styles of 16Th century Gujarat.

My husband is one of the few fortunate people who can say that affirmatively. He is a post graduate in history and he is very good at ancient civilizations and used to regale us with so many tidbits and trivia.

When I declined the first prize that I won, I took all the abuses possible. But only I know the reason for my action (rather inaction).
