Do you know Binaural beats?

My sincere gratitude to Mr.Bradley Thompson for his fantastic information on binaural beats and how it is effective in activating alpha brain cells.

As per wikipedia Binaural Beats ( for both ears) are auditory processing artifacts, that is apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain independent of physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove.

Binaural beats may influence the brain in more subtle ways through the entrainment of brainwaves and can be used to produce relaxation and other health benefits.

Binaural Beats use specially generated sounds in different frequencies to relax and alter our brain waves bringing about different states of mind such as happiness, creativity, mental calmness.

The scientific community has been aware that certain frequencies are associated wth certain states of mind. For example, the alpha frequency of 8 to 12Hz is present when individuals are in the "zone", in "superlearning", positive-thinking modes. This frequency can be verified through an electroencephalograph (EEG) reading, and can usually only be obtained through meditation.

So, why don't we just LISTEN to that frequency in an attempt to adopt that state of mind?

We could try, however the ears can only typically hear between 20 and 20,000Hz. Frequencies such as 8Hz simply don't register. But if we somehow manage to get the mind to hear those lower frequencies, we'd be able to recreate such states of mind literally on demand.

And that's just what the exact effect of listening to the Binaural Beats with earphone.

I find it very interesting and can be useful for any educational institutions, corporate houses, HRD firms and life coaches.

Please take a look at this informative table and it will certainly explain the science behind Binaural Beats.

EEG and the brain's state

EEG (Electroencephalography) technology is used to measure brain's electrical vibrations from the surface of the scalp. The resulting EEG pattern will contain frequency elements mainly below 30Hz. The frequencies are categorized into four states as follows:
StateFrequency RangeState of Mind
Delta0.5 Hz - 4 HzDeep sleep
Theta4 Hz - 8 HzDrowsiness (also first stage of sleep)
Alpha8 Hz - 14 HzRelaxed but alert
Beta14 Hz - 30 HzHighly alert and focused

I wish I have sufficient funds to buy these life changing CDs and all the products of Mr.Bradley Thompson.

  1. I am looking for any methods that will help to manage stress.
One I have found is called EMDR, eye movement de-sensitization reprocessing. This was formulated by the psychiatrist Francis Shapiro, who was treating war veterans who had post-traumatic stress disorder.
Shapiro discovered that EMDR was as fast and as effective as drugs or hypnosis and could be done by the patient at home.
EMDR: Suppose something bad has happened to you. Immediately find a private location, close your eyes and think about the bad experience, hold this in your mind. While doing so, move the eyes back and forth from left to right for about 5 minutes, always keeping the sting of the experience in mind.
My experience with this is that later in the day, the bad experience has faded from consciousness and is replaced by a feeling of mild euphoria.
During dreaming, the eyes move back and forth in this same way. Apparently forcing the eye motion while awake invokes what are called 'mirror-neurons' which get to work reprocessing whatever thought is in the mind. This is a tail-wagging-the-dog phenomenon which works very well for me.
On a grander scale, if simply moving the eyes back and forth opens a channel to the subconscious, what possible profound mental developments may be had by using this method as a training tool?
